Bangkok International Film Festival
July 19-29, 2007
10 July 2007, The Bangkok International Film Festival comes around again, and although 2007’s event might lack some of the breadth of previous festivals, it still promises to pack a decent punch for the serious filmgoer.
Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the festival is an annual event featuring around a hundred films each year. In 2007 there is more of a focus on films made around the region, concentrating on emerging filmmakers in Asia and Southeast Asia.
The cream of the films on offer at the festival are awarded internationally renowned Golden Kinnaree Awards. These are awarded in three categories and judged by an international panel.
Like other film festivals, the Bangkok International Film Festival offers a range of related events including panel discussions, workshops, and the Bangkok Film Market - an industry showcase where film producers, distributors, sales agents and organizations discuss and agree on future film projects.
