The Chiang Mai Land Transport Office has approved two new bus routes to be operated by the Chiang Mai Municipality. The first route will run from Arcade Bus Station on Kaew Nawarat road to Tha Pae gate, Chiang Mai International Airport on Mahidol road and end at the Royal Flora Exposition on the canal road. The second route will start from the Train Station on Charoen Muang road to Tha Pae gate, Maharat Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital on to Suthep road and the canal road and end at the Royal Flora exposition. Both routes will start operation in November and the fee will be 15 baht for all routes. The municipal air-conditioned buses will be used on both new routes.
To avoid traffic congestion on the canal road, which leads to the exposition site, and nearby community areas, three spacious areas to the north of the canal road will be used as parking areas for visitors to the Royal Flora Ratchphruek 2006 site. The three areas include parking areas in the Chiang Mai City Hall, abandoned areas behind the City Hall and the parking zones of the 700th year Stadium. The three parking areas are set in same area and are approximately 20 kilometers to the exposition site.
From the parking areas, charter buses will be provided to transport the visitors to the site and back to the parking, free of charge throughout the three months.
Red cars will provide transport from several hyper marts and department stores to the exposition sites. Transport from Tesco Lotus Hang Dong branch on Chiang Mai-Hod road and the Central Airport Plaza on Mahidol road to the site will charge 20 baht each. Transport from Tesco Lotus Kamthieng branch, Carrefour and Big C which are all set on the Chiang Mai-Lampang super highway to the east of the city will charge 30 baht each.
Within the exposition site, 15 tram cars will be provided and travel around the 7 kilometre route throughout the site. The fee for an adult is 30 baht and a child is 10 baht.
