Burasari launches Tree of Hope charity drive
PATONG: The Burasari Resort will launch this year's Tree of Hope charity drive with an opening ceremony and a party on December 14, starting at 6 pm.
The Tree of Hope project supports the Life Home Project, a charity devoted to helping HIV-positive women and children in Phuket by giving them much needed jobs, education and medication.
The centerpiece of the Tree of Hope project is a Christmas tree. Located at the Burasari Resort in Patong, the tree is decorated with handmade tree ornaments in the shape of snowmen, all handcrafted by the women of the Life Home Project.
The ornaments are for sale and the Burasari Resort will donate funds raised to the Life Home Project. This year organizers are hoping to raise 200,000 baht for the women and children at the shelter.
Each buyer will also receive a holiday greeting card specially designed by the children of the Life Home Project.
Patong Mayor Pian Keesin will chair the opening. He will be joined by international celebrity chef Keith Floyd and Suwalai PinPradab, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand office in Phuket. The women and children of the Life Home Project will also take part in a fun evening of games, with snacks, drinks and holiday gifts for all.
Moneys raised will be handed over to the Life Home Project on December 27.
