Chiang Rai’s Firework Display and The 11th Mekong River International Triathlon

Venue: Muang and Chiang Saen Counties, Chiang Rai Province (785 km north of Bangkok)

The Mekong International Biathlon and Triathlon 28-31 March 2008

On the joyous occasion of King Bhumibol’s 80th Birthday Anniversary this year, TAT is now preparing 2 big events to be held in Chiang Rai Province (785 km north of Bangkok).

The first one is the firework celebration provided by The Royal Thai Army Chemical Department, The Royal Thai Air Force, and The Royal Thai Navy, and joined by some foreign countries in honour of the King’s birthday. The display of fireworks is scheduled for around 19.00 hrs on 29 December 2007 at Chiang Rai’s Old Airport, Muang County.

The other event, the 11th Mekong River International Biathlon and Triathlon is to be held at Chiang Saen County, Chiang Rai Province from 28 to 31 March 2008. The programmes are as follows:

Biathlon: swimming and running or bike riding and running
Triathlon: swimming, bike riding, and running

Apart from these 2 events, it is also a good opportunity to travel in and around Chiang Rai and other northern provinces to see the beautiful mountainous scenery and Lanna’s cultural heritage.
